HUMANE 2017 Study Visits

University of Helsinki,10-12 September

Rising from Ashes: re-imagining university functions after a financial crisis

Announcing the 2017 Study Visit to Helsinki

As previously announced in HUMANE’s Winter and Spring Newsletters, the second of HUMANE's very popular and rewarding Study Visits for 2017 is now open for registration. The full programme of the University of Helsinki Study Visit is available here. Register here to secure your place.

Participants arrive to start in the early evening of 10 September with a briefing and dinner and the Study Visit finishes mid afternoon of 12 September.

The theme of this Study Visit is: Rising from Ashes: re-imagining university functions after a financial crisis

Hosted by HUMANE Chairman and Director of Administration Esa Hämäläinen, participants will be exposed to a story of how a major research university dealt with significant organisational change. Topics to be covered include: the policy and political context of university funding cuts; re-imagining university services; reform of degree programmes; changes in research services and support; and strategic decision making. View the full programme here.

This programme would particularly suit Directors responsible for transformation projects, as well as CFOs, Academic Registrars/Directors of Academic Services, HR Directors, Planning Directors and CIOs whose responsibilities embrace ‘business change’.

The study visit involves a significant amount of informal interaction between the hosts and the participants. The programmes are designed to allow participants to learn about the hosts’ lessons learned as well as their successes; and for the hosts to learn from participants, particularly during the structured feedback sessions.

Register here to reserve you place for Helsinki. The cost for each Study Visit is €1,100 (€1,500 for non HUMANE members) which includes meals within the programme but excludes accommodation and travel.

There is a discount for teams of participants from the same institution.
